Albuquerque Municipal Election 2009 Voting Tips

ENCOURAGE YOUR MEMBERS TO VOTE AT ONE OF THE 4 EARLY VOTING SITES,

September 16th-October 2nd!

This is the best way to avoid ID, precinct and registration problems ahead of time!  Remind them to take Photo ID!!!

Election Day is October 6th!

  • AVNM: Election Day Polling Places have been loaded into the VAN.  For those of you who use the VAN, you are able to look up where your members and others should vote on Election Day.  Voters can also

find out their correct polling location, if they know their precinct number

and City Council district, by looking it up on the City Clerk’s Polling

Locations list.  If they don’t know their precinct, they can find it through

the Secretary of State’s Voter View service (the link is in the right hand

column towards the bottom of the page) at www.sos.state.nm.us/.

  • Common Cause:  As part of their Election Protection program, election info is currently available at www.counteveryvotenm.org.*  Just click on the link on the homepage to take you to the Albuquerque Election section.  The 866-OUR-VOTE number will be operational again this year, beginning the first day of regular Early Voting (September 16th) through Election Day.  Calls will be connected to an automated service which prompts the caller to specify their contact info and details about their voting problem or question. Call details are emailed immediately to Common Cause NM, and, if appropriate, the voter will receive a return call as soon as possible.  Before the 16th, call Common Cause directly (505-323-6399) with questions.

* The website has maps to the Early Vote locations.

  • The Albuquerque City Clerk:  This website contains detailed information such as the laws regarding Voter ID, Early Vote Locations and Hours, Election Day Polling Places and the Application to obtain an Absentee Ballot.  There is also a sample ballot posted for voters to study or use as a guide.  The page will also feature an interactive Election Day link that voters can use to find their correct Election Day Polling Locations, since some of them have likely changed due to the consolidation of voting precincts.  The Albuquerque City Clerk website is http://www.cabq.gov/ or you can call (505-768-3030).

  • League of Women Voters:  For voters who wish to know the candidates, as well as understand the Bond Questions and Ballot Initiatives, they can study the League of Women Voters’ Voter Guide on their website, http://www.lwvabc.org/elections/index.html.
